The aim of this paper is to explore the grounds for European research and development dialogue (R&D dialogue) on “regional development, action-oriented research and new innovation agendas”. In this context the paper provides a picture of mutual learning and knowledge development in the preparatory phase of national project development and of trans-national cooperation. The concluding reflections summarise the starting points for the European R&D dialogue in the round table and discuss the role of different working perspectives in the future development of Regional Network Development tools (ReNeDe-tools).
