Help for ECER authors

This area contains instructions for authors of ECER 2005 papers, to help them manage the online content - abstracts and uploaded files - for their papers.

This area contains some annotated screenshots which illustrate the steps involved in managing the online content for an ECER paper or workshop/symposium contribution.

Only the authors of papers are permitted to manage or change online content for that paper. You must be logged in to manage your paper. If you find that you do not see the manage-paper interfaces, it probably means that you do not have the permission to do so; if you feel you should have, please contact Mike Malloch of KnowNet, including in your email the name or URL of the paper and session.

Authors should have received an email informing them of their login name and initial password for the site.

There are 3 kinds of editing that authors can perform to add or change the onlone content in this site for their papers:

Edit the abstract for their paper
The abstracts for all papers have already been entered by KnowNet staff. Authors can edit that content.
Upload files
You can easily upload files - for instance drafts of the full paper.
Manage files
If you want to delete files which you have uploaded, you can do so quite easily

The screenshots in this area illustrate how to go about performing those actions. Please contact us if you have problems. If you find it difficult to use the web interfaces provided, please email Mike Malloch of KnowNet, including in your email the name or URL of the paper and session, and attaching any files you would like uploaded for your paper or changes you would like made to the abstract.

Please note that there are some very minor changes in the interfaces for editing this year: the abstract is now part of the content of the page itself. This should not cause any problems with following the instructions here, which were written for ecer 2004.

Finding your own papers

This screenshot illustrates how to find your own papers in the site

You can easily find your own papers by clicking on the 'papers' or 'symposium contributions' tabs at the top of every page. Or just browse to the session your paper is being given in. You can also use the quick-search box at the top-right of every page to search for your own name.

Remember that you must be logged in before you will be able to edit your abstract or upload a document.

Special links for managing your content - screenshot

This screenshot illustrates the special links you can use to manage the content for your paper

KnowNet has created some special links in the display for every paper, so that you can easily manage the online content for your own papers. This screenshot guides you through those links.

Remember that you must be logged in - and be the author of a paper - before you will be able to edit your abstract or upload a document. If you do not see these links for a particular paper, and think that you should be allowed to manage the content for it, please contact KnowNet with the URL or names of the session and paper.

You can easily edit the text and formatting for your abstract. Clicking the 'edit this abstract' link for a paper brings up the form shown. Leave the Id, title and description fields as they are. You should have a WYSIWYG editing pane, with icons, in which to edit and format your abstract's text.

Remember that you must be logged in, with appropriate permissions for the particular paper, before you will be able to edit your abstract.

When you have made changes to the text or formatting for your abstract, you must submit the form to save the changes. The name of the button for saving will vary with language, but will always be in the screen-location shown here.

Remember that you must be logged in before you will be able to edit your abstract.

Managing uploaded documents

This screenshot shows how to manage the files you have uploaded (delete etc)

Once you have uploaded one or more files for your paper, you may find that you want to delete some of them. The 'manage uploaded documents' form is for that purpose. This screenshot illustrates the process for deleting an uploaded document, for instance. Note that you can also open the file-upload item from this interface, and re-upload a different file inthe upload form.

Remember that you must be logged in, with appropriate permissions for the particular paper, before you will be able to manage its uploaded documents.
