Report-Writing: help and pro-formas

What sort of information should I try to get from opportunity providers and how should I approach writing up a visit report?
First - find a friend!
Don't try and do everything on your own. Your process of evaluating how effective you are in working with employers will be much more fun and much more likely if you can find someone to talk things through with. So, as your starting point, find a friend!
Ideally this will be a colleague or mentor who is willing to act as a 'critical friend'. You need to feel comfortable talking openly to this person, and you might need to agree some ground rules for giving feedback.
Secondly - have a look at these downloadable report-writing proeformas together - they offer a possible approach to writing up opportunity provider visits.

This grid is designed to act as discussion document s- you can either sit down with a colleague/ mentor/ critical friend and discuss the different headings, or if you like, you can save them as a pro-formas for writing up your own visit reports. The 'with notes' file versions include explanatory text about the pro-forma headings.
Ideally it will stimulate some discussion that might lead to some formative feedback which could help you in your professional development. - Health Warning!

Each of these grids is only a guideline. It is not intended to be exhaustive or comprehensive. It should be viewed as a sensible framework that will prompt some useful discussion.
Our report-writing pro-formas are available in several forms - as printable pdfs with just the headings and fields for filling in, as printable PDFs with notes explaining headings/fields, and as Microsoft Word documents which you can copy and edit for yourself (these include the notes in the text-boxes; just replace those notes with your own text). You will find links to each of these versions below:
