Just for fun, can you think of any more predictions that never came to pass - or did - add your comment here (link to blog with pre-populated entry 'predicting the future is not always as easy as we might think - am I alone in remembering prophecies of paperless offices and too much leisure time by the year 2000? In relation to the changing labour market it is important to identify future trends, but just for fun, cast your minds back and share your memories of visions for the year 2000 and beyond - or even your own predictions for the year 2050- enjoy!)
So predicting the future isn't always easy. Nevertheless, it is possible to track some broad changes in the labour market, there will always be some examples that provide evidence to the contrary, but the major shifts are identified below.
