Labour Market Information and Labour Market Intelligence
The term LMI is used freely, but it isn't always clear what is meant by that. Elsewhere in this resource the distinction between labour market information - the raw facts and data and its more useful sister labour market intelligence - how to apply that information to an individual's particular circumstances is explored in more detail (see 'Labour Market Information versus Labour Market Intelligence' in module:The Nature of LMI).
In practice, labour market intelligence is often about predicting the future. The client or customer wants to know for example where jobs will be in the future, and what are the prospects following a particular course of vocational training or education.
