This is a website dedicated to careers in rail.  It includes an overview, history and structure of the rail industry together with downloaded fact sheets and careers information for those interested in: technical and engineering roles; customer facing roles; operations; and management.

Department for Transport
A government site on transport policies and strategies.  The Department for Transport was set up to provide a stronger focus on delivering the Government's transport strategy.  Its role is to set strategy and policy context, and to manage relationships with the delivery agencies.

GoSkills  
GoSkills is the sector Skills Council for the Passenger Transport Industry.  The website contains sector, industry and workforce data, and also regional data for the passenger transport sector.  It is an employer-led organisation that operates throughout the UK to help employers and operators improve their business performance by developing staff skills and advising on issues such as funding opportunities, training providers and training tools.

Maritime Skills Alliance (MSA) 
The MSA brings together the Fish Catching, Marine Leisure, Ports and Shipping industries in a strategic alliance to focus on the skills needs of the maritime sector.

Prospects: the UK graduate careers website
The section of the Prospects website entitled 'Transport' details the past, present and future issues of the sector, lists key roles and occupations as well as case studies and further contacts for the sector.

ACareerChange

The ACareerChange website aims to help those who feel stuck in a career or have an ambition to work in an alternative field.  The website includes a section on  Science and Law which includes an article on Changing Career:Becoming a Pilot, which provides useful background for those thinking about moving into the sector.
