Key statistics:
- 13% of UK employees are from ethnic minority groups
- 4% are from the Pakistani and Bangladeshi community
- there are significant regional variations – North East 4% and London 6% have a higher proportion of Indian employees
Within the industries ethnic minority groups represent:
- 11% of the aviation industry
- 22% of taxi and private hire industry
- 13% of rail industry, however approximately half of London Underground’s workforce are from Black and Minority Ethnic communities
- 12% of the bus and coach industry
- 1% in driver training
