Research
Research on the audio visual industries has been focused on:
- the significant increases in self employed people
- developing skills and knowledge in a technologically progressive and demanding industry
- developing the skills of freelancers
- the development of a recognised and professional accreditation system
- the need to increase diversity in the media industries
There is a lack of qualitative research in this sector and that there are significant gaps in our understanding and knowledge of this sector, but Skillset is seeking to address these.
Although career guidance potentially plays a pivotal role for those wishing to enter employment in the media sector, there is little material to support guidance practitioners. Research into career guidance and occupations in the media sector seems to be limited.
Further research can be found on the Skillset website.
