Animation workforce demographics

The animation industry in the UK employs an estimated 3,000 people, of which:

  • 47% work on a freelance basis
  • 44% are women (58% are employees and 28% are freelancers)
  • 7.2% are from minority ethnic groups (4.8% are employees and 10.1% are freelancers)
  • 1.6% are disabled (0.7% are employees and 2.7% are freelancers)
