Skills for Logistics reports and publications

Skills for Logistics Sector Skills Agreement

The different sections of the Sector Skills Agreement can be downloaded from the Skills for Logistics website, including:

  • Assessment of Current and Future Skills Needs in the Logistics Sector (Stage 1) (2005)
  • An assessment of Current Provision for Skills Needs in the Logistics Sector (Stage 2) (2005)
  • Analysis of Gaps and Weaknesses in Workforce Development Activity (Stage 3) (2006)

 

The website also makes available a number of reports on the Survey of Employers of LGV Drivers (2005, 2006).

2007 Labour Market Regional/National Profiles - logistics sector

The labour market profiles are available on the Skills for Logistics website providing an indepth report on the sector and an analysis of employment by geographic distribution and type.

Careers in Logistics

Website linked the Skills for Logistics SSC website includes information on careers in the sector, job opportunities, routes into the sector together with training and education opportunities.  It also includes extensive job profiles of both managerial and non-managerial occupations.

Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (CILT) 

CILT (UK) is a professional body in the logistics and transport sector.  The website includes information on careers in logistics and transport, a library service, plus information on training and qualifications in the sector.

Freight Transport Association (FTA)

The FTA website includes a vast amount of information on the industry and issues that are important to the sector.

Prospects: UK graduate careers website

The section of the Prospects website entitled ‘Storage and distribution’ links to three key roles in the sector which include a job description, salary levels, entry requirements and the types of training available.

Skills for Logistics

The Skills for Logistics Sector Skills Council provides industry information. This SSC is under development, so information is limited at present.

Road Haulage Association

ncludes facts and figures about the industry, together with commentary on policy developments that will impact on the industry. 

Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)

The CIPS is an international organisation, based in the UK, serving the purchasing and supply profession. Dedicated to promoting best practice, CIPS provides a wide range of services for the benefit of members and the wider business community
