Regional / national dimension

Information on regional trends and difference, together with trends in the home nations including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The IT workforce is forecast to grow across all regions.  However, the share of the IT workforce in Scotland, the North West and the North East is set to decrease to 2014, as other regions grow faster.  The East of England and Northern Ireland’s share of the UK IT workforce are expected to remain stable to 2014.

The occupational profiles of the English regions are similar.  The most common IT professional job role is ‘software professional’.

Highest salaries are found in the South East and London where a large proportion of the IT workforce is based.
