Many of the reports used to compile this sector information are no longer available online.  People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries, has recent research available online including their Sector Skills Agreement which contains data on the sector.

Useful websites and information on careers in the sector

People 1st

People 1st is the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries. The website provides: recent research on the sector; employment facts and figures; information on sector specific qualifications; and a career guide on working in the sector.

A Career Change – Leisure and Hospitality

This website has information and case studies of those who have changed career and are now working in the leisure and hospitality sector.  It includes articles on Changing Career: becoming a Hotelier or Running a B&B; Changing Career: catering and Changing Career: Starting up a Coffee Shop, Restaurant or Bar, as well as on Changing Career: Becoming an Events Organiser and Changing Career: Working in Travel.

Prospects: the UK graduate careers website

The section of the Prospects website entitled 'Hospitality' details the past, present and future issues of the sector, lists key roles and occupations as well as case studies and further contacts for the sector.
