South Central

NHS South Central covers the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It runs from Banbury and Milton Keynes down to the Isle of Wight.  There are more than 93,000 people working in primary and secondary care, which is approximately 5% of the working population.  The NHS is one of the largest employers in the South Central area.

In NHS South Central, there are:

  • more than 25,500 qualified nurses
  • 2,300 hospital consultants
  • 2,700 GPs
