Regional and national dimension

Information on regional trends and difference, together with trends in the home nations including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The largest proportions of the Improve workforce are located in:

  • Yorkshire and the Humber (15%)
  • North West (12%)
  • East of England (11%)
  • Scotland (11%)

The highest vacancy rates are reported in: Yorkshire and the Humber (25%) and the East Midlands (21%).  The South West has a significant recruitment problem.  Skill gaps in the workforce are reported by 40% of organisations in Yorkshire and the Humber, and 34% in the West Midlands compared with 26% in the UK sector.
