North West
The North West of England has 7,160 engineering manufacturing establishments which employs 179,800 people. There has been a decrease in the number of establishments (1%) and employment (4%) since 1998 which is comparable to the figures of many other regions. This region has one of the highest numbers of recognised trainees or apprentices in engineering with just over 5000 people.
The North West, and particularly Lancashire, has a high proportion of employment in aerospace.
