East Midlands

The East Midlands has 6,170 engineering manufacturing establishments employing 133,600 people and of these establishments 44% employ five or more people. There has been a decrease in the number of establishments (1%) and employment (10%) since 1998, related to industry trends of downsizing and outsourcing. Overall, there has been a decrease in employment for 7% of establishments in the region.

This region, and particularly Derbyshire, has a high proportion of employment in aerospace.
