Future education and training provision needs to ensure that:

• occupational qualifications are available to address skills gaps
• 14-19 years have access to qualifications that enable access to vocational learning opportunities
• vocational qualifications within Further Education reflect industry needs
• co-ordinated and enhanced provision of Foundation Degrees meet the requirements laid out in our sectoral frameworks
• apprenticeship schemes are flexible and meet the needs of the sector
• a coherent and rational number of qualifications prepare learners for work and provide a credible alternative to the higher education
