TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR SCHOOLS CONSULTATION PANELS

The Centre for Guidance Studies (CeGS) with the Institute for Careers Guidance (ICG)  are currently working with the Training and Development Agency for Schools (formally Teacher Training Agency)  to inform their strategy for engaging with careers advisers in England and Wales.

If you are currently working in the field of career guidance, then you are in a strong position to support this research and it would be great if you would get involved.  Your views will be used to support the TDA to develop appropriate and effective practice for supporting you as a careers adviser and your clients.

Use this discussion thread to comment on any or all of the following questions - even better give your perspective on others responses - do they reflect your own experiences, or have you a difference perspective to share?

The key areas for discussion are:

Are you aware of the 'offer' (yes/no)

If not, is there an explanation?

What would help bring more people into teaching?

03-May-2006

As part of their consultation process, the Training and Development Agency for Schools are seeking input from those involved in career guidance to help answer the question above. If you have any thoughts, add them here...

What's the missing link?

  1. What would organisations/individuals like to see? What is missing that would be effective in bringing people into teaching?
  2. Are there any particular barriers that prevent entry into the teaching profession?
  3. Would local networks be effective to impart knowledge and understanding of teaching as a career?

If you are interested in informing the future direction of the TDA, or just have thoughts you'd be willing to share please don't hold back.  And you might also want to contribute to the discussion thread below on 'What do you think about the Training and Development Agency for Schools?
