LMI in the context of government policies
04-April-2007
Just how important is LMI to governments and why? Should those with an interest in guidance work celebrate this enthusiasm for LMI or view it with suspicion? What do you think?

04-April-2007
This weblog post introduces the discussions related to the first module: 'The Nature of LMI and its role in Career Guidance'
looks interesting....

Just a quick note to say that I think this is a great way to use the NGRF - i.e. as a vehicle to help people carry out their own research
BBC fifteen web principles

Can't take the credit for this, but really it is helpful mantra for creating a website, Mike tipped me off to this tomski posting
Case Studies
19-January-2007
Also wrestling with how Case studies may fit in. There are a few scenarios included in the text at various stages. One in section one of the module is worked through in terms of LMi needs and some suggested sources - but is a very literal and entry level way of illustrating value of LMI
logos and buttons and themes

One of the tasks we looked at in Bangor was just trying to come up with visual gizmos to help identify areas and signify actions, the idea is this might give a bit of visual interest and thematic continuity to the site. It's actually amazingly hard to do this though! Ideas need to be copyright free, shrink without losing recognisability, be gender neutral and innoffensive, but also have enough impact to be memorable. Anyway, I'm going to capture some of the ideas here and see how we go.
swot and pdp
18-January-2007
thinking about how to develop the swot (reflection) and planning aspects of the personalised space (or will it be scrapbook, or ple) The pivot principle is that it is the learner/ user who is the organising principle for selection and grouping of materials - how can we generate something that will allow user to have central control BUY not hide behind 'learner centred' approach as an excuse for not giving any structure framework or guidelines to help give a bit of focus if needed....
Bangor Bash
17-January-2007
Am in Bangor doing some intensive work on this module - we really need to get structure cracked
and the feedback continues

more commentary on second round of evaluation. My favourite remark here is the closing comment along the lines of 'i wish I'd had more time'!
Dissemination - ICG conference 2007
12-January-2007
I've just put in a proposal for a workshop at the ICG Manchester Conference in November 2007. Could be a great opportunity to promote the online module to a practitioner audience.... fingers crossed eh
Further feedback
12-January-2007
Again, broadly positive - for me the top observation here is the comment 'I like to read the views of colleagues regarding the career guidance sector. Makes you feel part of something, a community with a common interest' - quite a testament to the potential of what we are trying to create here!
More positive feedback from round two
11-January-2007
Again thoughtful and heartening responses to the module - though we do need to do something about the home page, this panelist found it user-friendly and engaging enough to spend a good hour on it, hooray!
where are we now
11-January-2007
Just pausing for thought
Round Two Evaluation - practitioner panel reflections
11-January-2007
Again, I'm so impressed at the thought the evaluation panel have given to their responses. Very useful feedback follows - constructive criticism to think on as well as some positive comments.
round two evaluation - some more thoughts
11-January-2007
Again brief but thoughtful feedback from a user. Good to see this individual liked resources in equal opps section - again social bookmarking to thank for this, and has identified the module as useful in helping the practitioner in developing resources at work.
round two evaluation
11-January-2007
briefer commetns here, but still useful - another convert to social bookmarking!
