I made a quick and dirty conversion of the powerpoint slides to PDF files on white backgrounds, suitable for printing. I'm posting them as attachments to this reply.

Thanks for posting the presentations rom last week's Derby symposium, Lucy. Since I personally prefer to read things on paper (and also because I do not have a legal copy of Microsoft Powerpoint :o), I converted them to PDF files on white backgrounds. The conversion is quick and dirty, but good enough.

You should also find that the "preview" feature is available for these files... check the listings above for the files to see if the quick and convenient "preview" link is present. (The preview link - when it works - lets you very quickly get a feel for the contents of a file before you download it). For the originally posted PPT files, no useful preview was available, so the system did not offer the link.
