Three forthcoming government papers will have significance for the future of careers.

14 - 19 White Paper; new Skills White Paper and Youth Green Paper could all change the way careers is delivered......

The front page banner headline in the Times Educational Supplement (28.1.05) announces that career guidance is to be dis-banded - by which they mean the Connexions service.

2 Post Connexions in England?

For better or worse?

If the content of the TES article (28/01/05) is to be believed, Connexions will cease to be in the near future.  One replacement model proposed involves a split budget with 60% of the current funding allocated to the Children's Trust to develop a 'teenage arm', with the remaining 40% under the control of Local Authorities with schools and colleges having direct budget control.

There are both advantages and disadvantages with such a model, with everything to play for.  I'd be interested to see if anyone feels this might represent a better model than what we have at present.  Equally, what are the main disadvantages?
