Do we measure that what we know how to and that which is simply quantifiable in a statistical format (number of people applying for, gaining employment..etc..) because we lack the imagination to be creative about the measures necessary to capture the real benefits of guidance in any given context. We need new ways to measure in a guidance context and these measures need to be seen to be valid by the guidance community and the external funders etc..
We fail to articulate what guidance is as a process (distance travelled) and instead take the easy option to look at what are sometimes the more obvious, tangible outcomes even when this type of outcome has nothing to do with the guidance that may have taken place.
