Specific to career guidance, there's obvously the Beattie Committee Report (Implementing Inclusiveness, Realising Potential. Scottish Executive, 1999) ...
Specific to career guidance, there's obvously the Beattie Committee Report (Implementing Inclusiveness, Realising Potential. Scottish Executive, 1999) - which has an extensive bibliography in exclusion/inclusion. This led to the establishment of inclusiveness projects across Scotland under the auspices of Careers Scotland. These projects have recently been evaluated by Segal, Quince and Wicksteed consultants (info from Careers Scotland). More generally, try the following: Rodger, J. (2000) From a Welfare State to a Welfare Society: The Changing Context of Social Policy in a Postmodern Era. London : MacMillan; 'Life through learning, learning through life: The Lifelong Learning Strategy for Scotland' (see www.scotland.gov.uk); and a recently published pamphlet on social policy by 2 of our colleagues: 'A land of milk and honey'? Social Policy in Scotland after Devolution' Mooney, G and Poole, L., in Critical Social Policy Issue 81 Vol 24(4) Nov 2004 published by Sage. The Scottish Executive have also published a range of targets/objectives in this area - their web site (above) will give more information on the National Priorities for Education and the Social Justice Targets. A visit to the Education and Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning publications lists in this site would prove useful too.
