A new Institute of Career Guidance (ICG) Practitioners' Research Forum
The ICG Council has formally approved a set of recommendations from the Research Committee to establish, in liaison with the ICG membership, a Practitioners` Research Forum. This is designed to help meet the research needs and interests of the ICG membership and to ensure that future research is informed by practitioner perspectives. It is intended that this new Forum will enable members to:
One possibility for participation in a major research event for 2007 is the active involvement of practitioners and managers in a national survey, led by the Centre for Guidance Studies, University of Derby, that mirrors the work of a Canadian Research Working Group (CRWG) in identifying important issues in the collection and reporting of impact data related to careers guidance. It is hoped that the Forum will attract expressions of interest from a wide cross section of the ICG membership. Your views are invaluable to help develop the ICG Practitioners' Research Forum into a vibrant community of practice. The first meeting of the Forum meeting will be held on: Thursday 9th November 2006, 5.30pm - 6.00pm in the Queen Mary Suite, Glasgow Marriott Hotel, Glasgow. For more information either post a reply below highlighting key themes or issues that you feel need to be addressed from a research perspective. We will actively respond by sharing ideas and signposting you to potential sources of useful information and/or contacts. Alternatively, you may wish to contact: Deirdre Hughes (email: dmhughes@derby.ac.uk ) or Pete Robertson (email: p.robertson@napier.ac.uk ), Co-chairs of the ICG Research Committee, in the first instance. |
