This post begins the introduction of the work we are doing to create a dynamic, online version of the information presented in the leaflet(s) "Qualifications can cross boundaries - a rough guide to comparing qualifications in the UK and Ireland". I attach the PDF leaflets for Scotland, Ireland, and England, Wales & Northern Ireland. Subsequent posts will begin the explanation and presentation of options for "live" web interfaces.

For some time now, thanks to Alan Brown's astute intervention, we here at KnowNet have been exploring options for a dynamic, online version of the information presented in the leaflet(s) "Qualifications can cross boundaries - a rough guide to comparing qualifications in the UK and Ireland". That work is still preliminary, but I'll be posting at least one option later this morning.

To provide some background, I attach the PDF leaflets of the crossing boundaries information for Scotland, Ireland, and England, Wales & Northern Ireland (the difference between the leaflets is in the order of the information columns and in the contact details provided).

Watch this weblog for further posts about the crossing boundaries interfaces.

By the way, I am posting the entry from ECTO - my favourite weblog-editing desktop application. It is easy to post weblog entries from within the weblog itself, but you may find that it is even easier to post from special desktop applications like ECTO - for instance it allows multiple file attachments / thumbnails in one step.

1 The qualifications leaflet

Possibilities
The number of columns could be collapsed so as to view directly only the comparators in which you were interested at a particular time, Alan

2 Relations to EQF

comparisons with EQF should also be possible
comparisons with EQF could show any one or two systems against the EQF benchmark

3 FAQs / discussions by fine-grained row X column comparisons

To me, the killer fature of an onlineversion would be to have links from 'deep' in the information / comparisons so that users could read fine-grained FAQs and participate in specific discussions.
One of the most compelling reasons for creating an online version of the crossing boundaries comparisons is to make it easy for users to get detailed information about specific boundaries issues. For instance, we could provide links to FAQs - even better we could allow users to strike discussions or interest-groups from specific comparitive issues. The FAQs could be grown from those discussions?
