It's that time of year!

For those of you who started the course in Autumn 2004 this is the time of year when time seems to accelerate and (ideally) you start to manage the transitionary process that you will be helping clients to manage ... i.e. planning for what happens next!  Applying for jobs is a skill that experience improves, but however skilful you become the realities of the labour market won't necessarily change.  At this point in time the future of Connexions in England is uncertain, and delays caused by the impending election makes planning difficult in all guidance contexts.  This should not discourage you from developing job application skills but may mean that pooling knowledge is even more important.  So why not use this space to share experiences?

Mentoring support for job search by existing careers practitioners
ICG members in Scotland recently approved a suggestion at their Annual General Meeting that members would seek to offer some level of mentoring and support to QCG course completers in Scotland who are finding difficulty in finding their first appointment in guidance work. Any views on this suggestion? Graham Allan ICG Scottish Committee Member
