Signposts to international contributions on theory building
It is important to step back from practice and to reflect upon the underlying frameworks that guide and support guidance work. For example, in the debate about the impact of delivered services and “value for money”, it is essential to be able to describe what successful career guidance looks like, and what really matters in terms of inputs and outputs. It is difficult to see how this could be done without a clear grasp of a relevant underlying theoretical framework.
There are a number of authors from around the world who have provided a variety of theoretical perspectives to help inform and support career guidance planning and practice. Below are three selected abstracts of resource material that provide these perspectives, as well as a fuller bibliography.
