  • Documents relating to the evaluation of IAG work
  • Archived documents relating to the evolution of IAG partnerships

An occassional paper and research follow:

Building Guidance Capacity: a review of support offered to the voluntary and community sector by the Kent Guidance Consortium (2004)
The orgininal brief for IAG Partnerships included building the capacity in the Voluntary and Community sector to provide high quality information, to signpost and work towards providing advice.  The newly reformed Information Advice (IA) Service no longer has this brief and IAG contractors are required to procure 'delivery networks' focused on providing advice to large numbers of adults that fall into the Government's Skill Strategy target of those yet to achieve a full level two qualification.

This has beena significant policy shift in provision of IAG for adults and this evaluation was undertaken at a half-way point between the two positions: where the Kent Guidance Consortium model of capacity building through the work of Community Learning Advisers and Community Learning Mentors was being maintained despite the fact that the target numbers for advice beneficiaries had quadrupled.

This evaluation draws out the tensions underlying this change and provides insights to the complex pattern of work and relationships.  For the full report see:
