Summary
This document provides a summary of the main findings from the second phase of a research study into the outcomes from Careers Education and Guidance (CEG) that was carried out between September 1997 and October 1999. One of the conclusions from the first phase of the study – the East Midlands Outcomes Study (EMOS I) – was that the CEG received by young people during Year 11 might have an impact on their career decisions and careers-related skills in the two years following the end of compulsory education. This second phase aimed to inform DfEE's understanding of how Year 11 CEG and the careers-related skills developed by young people at this time influence the transition from compulsory education and early post-16 outcomes.
