What is the legislation/policy?
Equality and Diversity: Age Matters
The Government published Equality and Diversity: Age Matters on 2 July 2003. This was a consultation exercise on proposals for outlawing age discrimination in employment and vocational training. It sought views on proposals for the implementation of new anti-discrimination law under the European Employment Directive that came into force in October 2006. It was the first consultation to focus exclusively on proposals for age legislation.
From October 2006 the new Age Discrimination Legislation came into force. The DTI website has a wealth of information and related documents covering a range of aspects of the new law under the Equality and Diversity: Age Discrimination in Employment and Vocational Training part of their website.
The legislative document is available on the Stationary Office website where you can view the full text of the 2006 EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING AGE DISCRIMINATION The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006
