- A new Adult Advancement & Careers Service to be launched 2010 & occasional paper by Deirdre Hughes highlighting some key related issues.
- Mindfulness and Well-being: From Spirituality to Neuroscience Conference, 20-21 November 2009 at the University of East London. For more information go to the UEL conference webpage.
- CfBT Education Trust commissioned Dr Deirdre Hughes to develop a practical resource to inform and support the assessment of careers work within Integrated Youth Support Services in England. The impact of careers and guidance-related interventions literature review and the professional resource can be accessed through the CfBT website.
- University Guidance versus Tertiary Pedagogy 1st International Conference is being organised by the Association of the University Guidance Counsellors of the Czech Republic and the Institute of Education and Communication of the Czech University of Life Sciences on 29-30 June 2009 in Prague.
- The Skills Commission published Inspiration and Aspiration: Realising our Potential in the 21st Century, which calls for fundamental changes to careers guidance.
- Recent announcements concerning the development of a new adult careers service include a speech to Parliament by John Denham on Welfare and Skills, 26 November 2007 and the publication of Opportunity, Employment and Progression: making skills work DWP/DUIS nov 2007

- Publication of the New Quality Standards for IAG access them from the IAG section of the Every Child Matters website July 2007
- Publication of World Class Skills: Implementing the Leitch Review of Skills in England by DIUS , follows on from the Leitch review - 'Skills in the UK: the Long Term Challenge' - which recommends a new universal adult careers service.
