- The Skills Commission has published a report, Inspiration and Aspiration: Realising our Potential in the 21st Century (2008), which calls for fundamental changes to careers guidance.
- Recent announcements concerning the development of a new adult careers service include a speech to Parliament by John Denham on Welfare and Skills, 26 November 2007 and the publication of Opportunity, Employment and Progression: making skills work DWP/DUIS nov 2007
